Complex Trauma (CPTSD) is an attachment wounding with common responses, some of which we value but can get out of balance. Ambition, high expectations and performance, showing up for others, and self-reliance may be socially desirable but also contribute to over-functioning, burnout, harsh inner critic, imposter syndrome, validation-seeking, codependency, self-abandonment, avoidance, dissociation, compartmentalization, hypervigilance, and emotional dysregulation and over-regulation.
Perhaps you can be rigid and controlling, judgmental and impatient, concerned with status and appearance, feel both too much and not enough, feel less than or other, and chronically lonely. Productivity becomes more disconnected from our sense of purpose, realizing our potential feels less fulfilling, and endless efforting is exhausting.
My clients are also often seeking support around life stages and transitions, career issues, relationships, polyamory and non-monogamy, gender and sexuality, identity and intersectionality, and neurodivergence.
I am trained in highly effective therapies targeting complex trauma and OCD, and am certified to treat substance use and gambling. With an integrative and eclectic approach that is humanistic and strengths-based, I apply anti-oppressive, feminist, queer, and body/sex-positive lenses, and incorporate harm reduction principles.
